Cooking Spatulas for Pancakes

By Carrie D. Romen

Do you ever make pancakes? About how often do you make pancakes? Once in a blue moon, or once a week? No matter how often you make pancakes, you should be using the right tools and that includes using the right cooking spatula.

Do you really need a great cooking spatula when you are making pancakes. They aren't that important. You could still make pancakes without one, but it would make things a lot harder and I can't guarantee you would get a very good result.

What is a cooking spatula? A lot of people think a cooking spatula is one of those things that you use to flip burgers on the grill. This isn't technically what a spatula is. Technically speaking, those are called flippers.

What a lot of people call a rubber scraper is actually called a cooking spatula. You know, those things you use to scrape out the rest of the batter when you are pouring out brownie batter into a pan? That's a spatula.

There is some good news if you are confused. Some spatulas can be used as both a rubber scraper and a flipper. This makes for the ultimate pancake tool. You stir up the batter and get the past bit and then use the same tool to flip the pancakes.

When you are ready to make some pancakes, first stir up the batter. Once it's ready, pour it out onto a hot greased pan and use a spatula to scrape out the last bit. When they are ready, flip them over with the spatula.

Once they're cooked to a golden brown, flip them onto serving plates and serve them with butter and syrup. You could also serve them with just about any other topping you think you'd like to try.

Do you still love pancakes? I'm sure you do and now that you know what you need that's all the more reason to go out, get your ingredients, and make up a delicious batch of pancakes right away!
