Using Quality Cooking Equipment

By Madeline M. Madnessy

What is your kitchen like? What kinds of tools and supplies do you have? Are they so old they look like they're going to fall apart any minute? Were they the cheapest things you could find when you bought them?

How is your cooking? Do you love to cook as much as you can or do you avoid the kitchen entirely? Do you ever feel like you can't make the foods you want because your kitchen is holding you back?

The quality of your kitchen tools can have many different effects. When you aren't making much money and just moved out on your own, the quality of your kitchen tools and appliances are is the last thing on your mind. You're trying to save money.

First of all, cheap kitchen tools just about always perform at lesser quality. You will see the performance and quality of your kitchen tools and appliances come out in your food and cooking.

Here is some probably shocking news for you. Cheap appliances aren't less expensive. Yes they are cheap quality, but they will almost always cost you more in the long run. You'd be better off going with something of better quality and more expense.

How does this make sense? When you buy a cheap coffee maker, and I mean a really cheap one, you'll probably get mediocre or bad coffee, for maybe a year, or two, or less. You spent 20 bucks, but you'll end up buying one every year for years to come.

Now let's say you sprang for the 60 dollar coffee maker that lasts a lifetime. Even if you paid double for one that lasts 20 years, you'd still save a lot of money, and probably get better coffee, too.

Now, before you go out and buy the most expensive kitchen appliances you can find, make sure you know the difference between quality and just plain overpriced. Ask around and look for reviews before you make a purchase.
