Garlic Mushrooms, Queens of the Kitchen

Learning how to cook mushrooms is easy. The most difficult part is picking the right mushrooms from the forest, in order to avoid poisoning.

For your safety, the best way to get the mushromms is to buy them from department stores and supermarkets, and not from the open market. If you want, you can buy canned mushrooms, but they won't taste the same as fresh ones.

Cooks know that mushroom is a complete aliment, full of nutrients and especially rich in vitamin D. Vegetarians could eat mushrooms instead of meat and feel well and healthy. Mushrooms give energy.

There are so many books of mushroom recipes, that one can provide great variety of meals, all based on mushrooms. An important tip in cooking, is to cut all similar veggies in equal parts. This will ensure that all pieces will be ready in the same time.

Cleaning the mushrooms is a very detailed operation and it needs to be done with great care and with your glasses on, in case you need them. They grow in the ground, so they may have a lot of dirt and small residues on them. It's not always a good idea to cook those things and eat them. You may get in trouble.

When cleaning mushrooms, a small, soft brush may be of great help. Running water is also a must, if you want to get rid of all small organisms that live on a mushroom. Sometimes, you'll need to peel the surface layer, because the dirt could be impossible to remove.

Beware that it is very easy to get an indigestion from under cooked mushrooms. They are hard to digest and you may feel ill if you eat them raw. Average size mushrooms need a cooking time of about 15-20 minutes.

The simplest way to cook mushrooms is to fill them with small pieces of cheese and ham and put them in the oven at average temperature for 15 minutes. You'll know when they are ready, because they will start spreading the smell all over the kitchen.
