How to Make Homemade Chocolate Chip Cookies

By Dale E. G.

Do you like chocolate chip cookies? It's probably a dumb question. Chocolate chip cookies are a delicious treat that pretty much everyone loves. They are also very easy to make which makes them that much more appealing.

Start by creaming together cups of granulated sugar and cups of brown sugar together with 1 cup of butter. You could use shortening or half shortening, half butter, if you don't have enough butter for the recipe.

Next, add in 2 eggs and a teaspoon of vanilla. Mix it together very well, but you don't need to beat it for any length of time. You can use an electric mixer, stand or hand, if you have one and want to make it easier.

Next, combine 2 cups of flour with 1 teaspoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of salt. Mix it together with a spoon until it is well combined. There shouldn't be any clumps in this mixture.

Now you can begin to gradually mix in the flour with the rest of the wet mixture. Add it in about a half cup at a time and use the dough hook on the mixer if you are using an electric mixer to stir it in.

Mix in 2 cups or 12 ounces of chocolate chips. Make sure they are semisweet chocolate chips. Now you can refrigerate it for at least 2 to 4 hours or overnight. The cookies will come out better and hold their shape better if they are chilled.

Once the dough is ready, roll it into balls that are about 1 or 2 inches in diameter. Put them on an ungreased cookie sheet and space them about 2 inches apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 12 minutes. They should be golden brown when they are ready to come out of the oven.

Remove them from the oven and let the pan cool for about 3 minutes. Use a spatula to remove them from the cookie sheet and then place them on a wire rack to cool. Serve them warm with milk or let them cool completely and store them in a cookie jar for later.
