Electric Griddle vs. Stovetop griddle

By Steven V. Rodenbergh

Do you have a griddle? What do you use it for? Hopefully you just use it for cooking. You use it for cooking, but you probably use it for cooking all sorts of different foods. I doubt you use it for anything besides cooking as I couldn't see what else it would include.

What great foods can you use a griddle to cook? All sorts of food from pancakes or eggs for breakfast, grilled cheese for, lunch or burgers, chicken, or veggies for dinner. There are many more great and delicious foods you can cook on a griddle.

When it comes to home cooking, there are mainly two kinds of griddles. You could use a griddle that you put on your stove-top, or you could use an electric griddle that you plug in and put on the counter.

Is the electric griddle better than the stove-top griddle or is the the other way around? One is not better than the other, necessarily. For you, the electric griddle may be clearly a better choice, but the stove-top griddle might work much better for the next person.

If you live alone or with just one or two other people, the stove-top griddle might be best for you. This is especially true if you have a small kitchen. You don't need to cook a lot at once and you can save counter space.

Choose a round griddle pan if you want to save even more stove and cabinet space. It looks similar to a skillet, but it is completely flat and has no edges to make flipping food more difficult. It's great if you cook for just yourself.

An electric griddle is great for big families. If you have more counter space but need the stove to cook other stuff, an electric griddle utilizes the counter space freeing up more burners. You can plug it in away from the stove.

You don't need to worry about what the "right" griddle type is because the right one for you is not universally right. Just make sure you think about what you need and you buy according to your needs and wants.
