Great Handmade Chocolate Recipe Gifts

By Terri Rohrer

Have you been searching for just the right gift to give to a family member or friend, but just have not been able to find one that suits both your wallet and the sentiment that you would like to portray. I have always loved giving gifts that are from the heart. The person who receives these presents always pleased by the fact that so much consideration has gone into it. Not only that, but in today's financially difficult climate we can all benefit from finding more const-conscious ways of gift giving.

Recently one of my close friends had a birthday coming up and as hard as I tried I was just totally stumped as far as what to give her as a gift. I was going through a particularly difficult time financially and could not afford much, however I really wanted to give her something that demonstrated how much her friendship has meant over the years. One day I was looking for a good chocolate recipe to make for dessert and it dawned on me! I decided to make a special recipe box for her.

Every recipe has some sort of a history or a story behind it. It was formed by an on-the-go soccer mom to get a wholesome meal done quickly after weekday practice, or put together by a prudent depression era woman who found just the right seasonings to make her family forget that her stew had very little meat in it. Maybe one of your most loved recipes became your favorite through recollections of helping your mom make Sunday supper, or grandma make your favorite chocolate recipe.

A recurrent premise in my family seems to be the chocolate recipe. So when I was searching for a unforgettable present I decided to create a chocolate recipe compilation and fashion it into a remembrance box. My friend told me later that through the years she has been admired by every person who had seen it. Also, she confided in me that because of the thought that had gone into it, this was one the most loved gifts that she has received.

I chose a container that wasbig enough to fit quit a few mason jars that I had filled with the ingredients of my most loved chocolate recipe. Then I packed the remainder of the box with a number of additional recipes, I even found several pictures of my friend and I sharing a special desert or eating out that I also included. Because I got such a fervent response from my friend about this present, I have since come up with several other recipe gift ideas. Almost anything can be turned into a way to showcase special recipes, such as scrapbooks, cookbooks, and ingredient kits.

Families usually have recipes that have been intertwined into their family history, being passed down from generation to generation. Other families may just now be beginning to make traditions.

In either case making a custom-made gift is certain to be a enormous hit. Being a chocoholic myself I cannot envision anyone who would not absolutely love being given a chocolate recipe box as a present. But for those of you who are not quite as fanatical about chocolate as I am, feel free to use any of your favorite recipes.

Whether it is for a relative, co-worker, or friend I have found that everyone has been thrilled to receive one of these as a gift.
