Do You Know How to Cook Cheap?

By Elizabeth Morgan

How good are you at cooking really cheap? I can not tell you how surprised I am that cooking cheap is not done much these days. Really, it is so easy to do: the savings is in your pantry.

I'm telling you the truth.

Heres the scoop. Buy everything in your pantry both on sale and, and with double coupons. Just one savings strategy will save you 70% or more and then cook from your pantry. Seriously, this one strategy will save you thousands of dollars a year.

What do you need to do to be successful and save the big bucks? Get coupons, free coupons and use them. Stock up when the price is low and choose products to keep in your pantry, freezer and fridge that dont spoil easily.

This is what you need to do:

Be sure all of your food is purchased on sale and with a double coupon to maximize savings. Hit the weekly sales fliers first, do a quick online search for high face value coupons, print and then go grocery shopping. Ideally you should have a double coupon for everything in your shopping cart.

Make sure to buy combinations of fresh foods, frozen foods, and canned foods. Try this strategey to avoid waste: use the fresh items first, the frozen second and save the canned for last. Always keep some canned meats like salmon, and chicken in the cupboards for sandwich fillings and casseroles.

Never pay full price. If you run out of something, use something else. Substitutions are your friend!

Pay attention to staples for cooking and keep them on hand. Do not forget that staples do not just mean flour and the like; a staple can be anything you use often. We always have canned soups, yeast, canned pineapple and plenty of spices around. Paying attention to not wasting what you have will save a lot of money.
