Low Carb Vegetarian Diet

There are many vegetarian low carb recipes out there but selecting a good one for you and your family can be difficult.

The key to planning a good low carb vegetarian diet is knowing your foods well. Take several different kinds of foods that you plan to cook regularly and get familiar with them.

The first ingredient is tofu. It is a staple of all vegetarian diets, is one of the best foods to eat on a low carb vegetarian diet.

Tofu will be your friend, if you have been a meat eater before and are looking for something that is nutritious and can emulate the flavour and texture of meat.

This ingredient is incredibly all-round and can be used in just about any vegetarian low carb recipes that you find. You first want to start simple with this ingredient and work you way up to proficiency with it. Whether it is Asian or Italian you can work Tofu in if you use it right.

Aside from Tofu there are many other foods that you can incorporate into your low carb vegetarian diet. Eggs are high in protein and low in carbohydrates, but high in cholesterol and calories. So moderation is the key with eggs.

Protein is often overlooked in recipes, so it is especially important to make sure that you have the right amount of protein when on a vegetarian diet, as it is very easy to not have enough.

Another very good high protein food that you can use in your low carb diet for vegetarians is nuts. Peanuts, cashews, walnuts and even coconuts are all great choices to add flavour and protein to any meal.

While peanuts can make wonderful sauces and cashews can spruce up even the blandest of meals. Coconut milk makes a lower fat alternative to cow?s milk, so is very healthy.

Peppers are a great choice for explosive flavour and versatility. They provide a shot of flavour with very few calories. It is considered to be a very useful food for vegetarian low carb recipes.

Well there you have some basic ideas to get your vegetarian low carb recipes off the ground. The key is being willing to experiment and try new things so don?t be afraid to give new things a shot.
