Throw a Brunch

By Patrick Cater

Are you looking for an interesting way to celebrate a birthday or just to get together with old friends? Why not throw a brunch? It is a great way to get people together for a party and socialize.

Your first course of action is to decide on a theme. Obviously it's going to be breakfast food, but try to be more specific. Will it be quick and easy with donuts and bagels, or will you go all out with eggs and the works. Remember that the fancier your brunch is the more work it will be and the more expensive it will be.

For example, if you had a party with eggs, bacon, and sausage and you are expecting a lot of guests, it will cost a lot more than if you had donuts and rolls. Try to understand that some foods are much more expensive then others, so pick according to how many people will be there. You should decide this ahead of time.

If you are going to do a quick lunch or a more detailed lunch you are going to need specifics either way. What kind of food will you need? Be specific about what kinds and how much. Don't forget beverages, plates, napkins, utensils, etc. Make up a grocery list with specific items and amounts.

If you are thinking about making a pancake brunch, think about what different varieties you will make and what kind of toppings you will have available. This is a great brunch that you can be creative with. The more choices and variety you have available the more fun it will be.

It's better to have extra food than it is to not have enough. This doesn't mean you should let people get away without an RSVP. Make sure you know how many people will be attending and you will make it much easier for yourself. Be as accurate as possible so that you don't waste food.

Now that you have food taken care of, think about decorations. You could just have pretty tablecloths and plates or you can add in centerpieces for the tables and flowers around the room. Decorations can make it look that much more festive.

Make a date and ask for help if you need it. For a large crowd you will need some help. If you are worried about paying for it all or setting it up all yourself, ask other people to bring something. Finally, make sure and your guests all have fun!
