Solaire Grills, A Shining Star in Outdoor Cooking

By Mike Pit

Rasmussen Iron Works, Inc. began in 1907 when a Danish immigrant opened a blacksmith shop in Whittier, California. Rasmus Rasmussen's sideline business is what would blossom into the grilling field with Solaire Grills.

Obviously, Rasmussen didn't start with grills, and had to change as the times changed. He started with fancy accessories for fireplaces, like tools and screens. At one point, his company was creating steel buildings and truck body parts. During World War II he manufactured welding rod handles.

Eventually, his son Ted opened a store selling gas fireplace logs. He then invented the sand pan burner that allowed consumers to have a real looking flame from a gas log. While perfecting this, he had to invent the molds and processes that went along with the manufacturing of them. The 4th generation of Rasmussens now carry the torch manufacturing gas log heaters, and modern gas fireplaces in various shapes, like stones and balls. They also manufacture Solaire Infrared Grills.

Cooking has always been done over an open flame, and the Rasmussen's have duplicated this effect in the Solaire infrared grills. When a flame is red, it's producing more infrared spectrum and this is the best way to keep your food moist while it's cooking. The cooking is done be exciting the molecules within your food and this creates friction, which creates the heat. Because it affects all molecules, the heating is even throughout. You can cook meals more quickly than on a gas or charcoal grill which means it fits easier into a busy schedule.

Solaire grills come with a number of standard features. 1) Enclosed storage compartment, 2) a removable warming rack, 3) side shelves, 4) hand polished mirror finish accents, rapid start igniter and 5) welded construction.

The Solaire Anywhere is the entry in the portable grill category. As with most portable grills, it has folding legs and adjustable feet. A really nice feature is the airtight lid that prevents grease from leaking out while your moving it from one place to another. It comes with a carrying bag to make transport easier. But it also provides complete access to the back for removing burners and it also has vents in the rear so you can control airflow.

Solaire has grills ranging from 27" to 56". The even have a model with a refrigerator. These larger models are what you'll want on your deck or patio. Each grill operates with wide temperature ranges for various types of cooking.

Solaire grills use wavelength engineering to directly apply infrared energy. This is more effective than traditional infrared grills.

Solaire grills are sold through retail outlets like Sports Imports, Aqua Superstore, Northline Express and online at Amazon.com
