Holiday Caterer Selection

By Chef Jeff Grundy

Our present day society basically requires the serving of food at celebration events. Try and think of the last time your were at a party that did not offer food?

Cooking for large numbers of people has many challenges associated with it. Maybe not the most obvious but probably the most important, do you have enough pots and pans, storage and serving equipment to handle the large numbers. Hiring a caterer can solve many of these hidden problems.

By using an experienced catering company, the event is much more enjoyable for the hostess. Parties are meant to be fun, not spending the whole evening stuck in the kitchen. Additionally the caterers' ideas and suggestions can help make the event a grand success.

When choosing a cater be careful to compare similar options. There are three towns surrounding where I live. Cartersville, Rome and Kennesaw yet each will have a different pricing structure and offerings.

Corporate events also require a lot of prior planning. Hiring a caterer that specializes in corporate catering will help ensure the overall success of the event.

Although not the most important point, remember the father away the caterer the more possibilities of something going wrong and causing the caterer to be late. Where I live it is not unusual for a caterer from Rome to work in Cartersville and Kennesaw, yet it would not make sense for a company from Canton to drive this far.

There are several established, professional, catering companies currently operating in Rome Georgia, Kennesaw Georgia, and Cartersville Georgia.

Spend time up front with the caterer and determine all the possible costs. Costs can include delivery fees, included tips or charges for cleaning up the event after it is over. Everything goes smoother when you leave nothing to chance.

Once you have determined this amount remember it when the time comes to get quotes from caterers. Expect to be quoted the amount you would have spent preparing the food yourself plus a bit extra to cover transportation, set up, serving, and cleaning up.

Some pricing may shock you at first, but when you look at all the benefits associated with having someone else do all the cooking, planning, shopping and cleaning it is well worth the added expense.
