Don't Forget Your salad With Dinner Tonight

By Chris Lee

Nearly everyone knows that eating salad is a healthy way to eat. Eating a salad everyday is easy when you add it as a side-dish with your dinner. Eating out, you are surely going to be offered a salad to go along with your dinner. If you are going to eat at home, you should add a dinner salad as well.

Eating a salad every day can be a very good healthy habit to adopt. It is a common misconception that eating salads will not help you with your health and weight goals. Enjoying a dinner salad every night will in fact help you with all your health-related goals. Eating a salad as a side dish is a much healthier choice than having pasta or many other sides. Salads are crunchy, which not only helps to fill you up, but they are just fun to eat.

Eating salads is such a fun and delicious act that even your kids will love it. You can put anything that you want in your salad. You should be careful not to add things that contain a lot of fat and/or calories. Be sure that you are not destroying the health potential in your salad by putting in things like bacon and high fat cheeses. Particularly if you are eating your salad with dinner, you should avoid things that are high in fat.

You should instead add lots of different types of vegetables. Be sure that your lettuce is fresh, for that wonderful crunch and flavor. While Iceberg lettuce is perfectly healthy, Romaine lettuce is actually healthier. If you prefer this darker lettuce, then be sure to use it often. Be sure to make your salad colorful by adding a large variety of vegetables. Mushrooms are good for you as well and make an excellent salad addition.

You can even prepare your salad to perfectly compliment your dinner, whatever you are having. For instance, if you are having chicken, then add some grapes or nuts to your salad. Fruits such as grapes and cranberries are excellent in salads and compliment a variety of dinner dishes. Just one dinner salad each night and you are taking care of the vital nutrients that your body needs to stay healthy. In addition, salad is one of the easiest side dishes to prepare. You can even find pre-mixed salads at most grocery stores. You just grab a bowl and fill it up. In less than five minutes, you can give your family a needed serving of vegetables in a healthy and delicious salad.
