Tandoori Chicken Is The Most Delicious Metabolism Friendly Food

By Amit Patel

Finding foods we can truly enjoy that satisfy our hunger and are low in calories is definitely important. Avoiding fast foods, sweets and sugary sodas is important if we wish to stay at a manageable weight and keep our metabolism running properly. There is so much temptation to make unhealthy eating choices and so few delicious healthy alternatives. My favorite low fat food I actually enjoy is tandoori chicken.

Tandoori chicken is cooked at high temperatures in a tandoor oven. Tandoor ovens are made of clay and can cook with extreme heats up to 900 degrees F. The tandoor oven produces a very unique and special flavor, which is attributed to the juices of the chicken dropping down on the hot coals. This creates a delicious flavored smoke that will make your taste buds very happy. Tandoori food is often considered the culinary pride of the people of India and the reasons for this are obvious. It is truly delicious!

Tandoori Chicken is a glorious dish and perfect to serve at any dinner party. It is without a doubt my favorite dish and it is good for you and your weight management goals as well. When preparing spicy and succulent tandoori chicken you can be proud in knowing you are eating a healthy food that will nourish you and satisfy your appetite too. The main key to delicious tandoori chicken is not to over-grill it. If you are using a tandoor, be sure to keep a close eye on your chicken as it cooks.

Every successful tandoori chicken dish is marinated in a special spicy yogurt. In a large bowl, add 1 cup of yogurt and your tandoori chicken spice. To make traditional tandoori chicken, you want to season your yogurt marinade with tandoori masala spices. The spices will make the food hot and spicy, and in the United States a milder less spicy marinade is often used.

Once your marinade is ready, you will need to rinse and clean your chicken pieces. Fork the chicken pieces as this will help the marinade absorb into the chicken. Place in the plastic bag, and pour in the marinade. Ideally, you will want to let the chicken marinade overnight, but letting it sit for 4 hours should produce a delicious flavor in your tandoori chicken. The chicken simply gets better if it has the opportunity to marinate overnight. Cover the bowl you use with saran wrap or aluminum foil before putting in the refrigerator.

When you make the flavorful and succulent tandoori chicken be sure to make enough so that you have some left over. With this left over tandoori chicken you can create amazing low calorie snacks or meals. Try reheating your tandoori chicken and enjoying it over whole grain rice or vegetables. Make a sandwich with whole wheat bread and lettuce. You can do so much with left over tandoori chicken and it is all healthy and low in fat!
