Meat Lasagna For A Great Dinner

By Mike Jones

Are you looking for great ideas for this week's dinners? Try a meat lasagna one night. This delicious dish of Italy is a great meal when combined with a lovely salad and some tasty bread.

Meat lasagna is a combination of good pasta sauce, ground beef, mozzarella cheese, cottage or ricotta cheese and Italian spices. Each of the ingredients is layered in a pan and the lasagna is cooked until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Unlike other pasta dishes, lasagna can be made using uncooked pasta. The wide lasagna noodles can simply be layered in the pan with all the wet ingredients. Baking may take a little longer, but you will never know that they were not cooked beforehand.

Another great meat lasagna uses chicken and Alfredo sauce. In addition to the sauce and chicken, vegetables are also layered into the pan.

Another way you could do lasagna, is with a red or white sauce using vegetables as a substitute for the meat. You could use zucchini, carrots and spinach as your veggies. It is a much healthier and lower fat chose, but it still tastes fabulous.

If you're trying to cut back on the carbohydrates, try your traditional lasagna recipe using steamed cabbage instead of the pasta. The flavors are very close and might fool your taste buds.

For baking that lasagna you chose, you are going to need a casserole dish that is about three inches deep. You should also use a square or rectangular pan, due to the shape of the noodles.

If you do not have the deep dish pan, then you will find disposable aluminum lasagna pans at the grocery store. These pans are great for freezing a second lasagna for use at a later date. In addition, they make clean up a breeze.
