Have A Meat Lasagna To Make A Great Dinner

By Mike Jones

What's on the menu for your dinners this week? A great chose would be the meat lasagna. This mouth watering dish along with a salad and some fresh bread, is sure to please the whole family.

What you get with a meat lasagna, is a marvelous mixture of a sauce with Italian spices, cottage or even ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese and ground beef.Just layer all these ingredients in a pan and cook it until the pasta is tender and the cheese is bubbly and melted.

Unlike other pasta dishes, lasagna can be made using uncooked pasta. The wide lasagna noodles can simply be layered in the pan with all the wet ingredients. Baking may take a little longer, but you will never know that they were not cooked beforehand.

Another great way to do lasagna, is with Alfredo sauce and chicken. A lovely addition to the chicken and Alfredo, is vegetables in the layers of the pan.

If you prefer the lasagna without meat choose red or white sauce and substitute vegetables such as zucchini, spinach or even carrots. The veggies give the lasagna a great taste and are much lower in fat than meats are.

If you are craving lasagna but are cutting the carbohydrates, try using your traditional lasagna recipe but substitute steamed cabbage leaves for the lasagna noodles. The flavor of this casserole is reminiscent of traditional lasagna and may fool your taste buds.

For baking that lasagna you chose, you are going to need a casserole dish that is about three inches deep. You should also use a square or rectangular pan, due to the shape of the noodles.

A great thing to do if you do not have a deep dish casserole dish, is to find a deep dish disposable aluminum pan. You can get them at most grocery stores and there great for if you want to freeze a few lasagnas for a few weeks in advance. Well, let's be honest it's also easier to clean up.
